What my recital taught me...
Hi guys! I know it's been a while since I've written a post on A Real Girl. But life has been crazy lately. But one of the things that was keeping me busy the most was my piano and voice recital. Hearing everyone's beautiful voices and talents was so much fun.
It was clear that each person had a unique talent and loved to show it. But most of all when they where onstage they were being themselves, in their own way. Each person there had an amazing time on stage expressing themselves, and in the audience everyone supported them and made them feel good. No one could make the people being themselves feel like they where awful because talent comes from the heart not the head.
But at the start its a little hard to perform because you're afraid. When I started to sing I had really bad stage fright. But I really loved singing. So I told myself that it's just a crowd full of people I don't know. So I went up on stage and sang. Only at the beginning of the song my little brother Alex walks across the room with his fingers buried deep in his ears. That's what I get for having an 8 year old brother. Anyways, I start to sing and the microphone started to have feed back. But I just kept singing. And I realized no preformance would ever go that awful again. By moving forward and not letting the glitches get in my way, I had one of the best performances I ever had. And the amount of compliments I got for being able to move through the song smoothly made me feel like I was on top of the world.
So take it from me, it's definitely worth it to show your talents to the world. It's scary, but it's worth it. :)
